Her first co-designed adidas Originals collection turns the Superstar into a square-toe, ribbon-laced silhouette built around the idea of “Functional Grace.”

JENNIE has moved from adidas ambassador to co-designer. Her first adidas Originals collaborative collection launched globally September 1, and the centerpiece is a new interpretation of the Superstar that looks far more directional than a standard celebrity colorway.

The shoe: SUPERSTAR SQ BALLET

The SUPERSTAR SQ BALLET combines a premium leather upper and lambskin lining with a squared toe and ribbon detailing. The result reads closer to a fashion flat than a conventional court sneaker, while still borrowing enough from the Superstar to feel familiar.

Why this collaboration is different

The collection is built around “Functional Grace,” with ballet references carried through apparel and accessories rather than pasted onto one hero shoe. That makes the range more coherent and gives shoppers a reason to look beyond the campaign name.

Who should buy it

If you already wear low-profile sneakers, ballet sneakers or sporty Mary Janes, the square-toe Superstar is the most interesting piece. If you want a classic adidas shoe that disappears into an everyday wardrobe, this is probably too stylized.

Girls Who verdict

The shoe clears the novelty test. It changes proportion, toe shape and styling language enough to feel like a new product, not simply a famous face attached to an existing SKU.
