The headline
Bvlgari has moved five of its best-known jewelry signatures into a new category: limited-edition minaudières. The Bvlgari Icons collection turns Monete, Serpenti, Tubogas, Divas’ Dream and Bvlgari Bvlgari into evening bags conceived as functional objets d’art rather than conventional seasonal accessories.
Why this is different
The appeal is not simply that Bvlgari made a bag. The house is applying jewelry language and techniques to the object itself, including lost-wax casting, hand enameling, pavé work and stone inlays. That makes the collection closer to collectible high jewelry with storage space than a normal luxury clutch.
Creative director of leather goods and accessories Mary Katrantzou frames the project around the meaning already attached to the five icons: transformation, strength, wisdom, allure and identity. The campaign extends that idea through Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Linda Evangelista, Kim Ji-won, Isabella Rossellini and Sumayya Vally, photographed by Ethan James Green.
Girls Who take
For shoppers, this is a useful distinction in an increasingly crowded market for ultra-expensive novelty bags. The value proposition here is craftsmanship and house-specific design history, not merely scarcity. If you collect Bvlgari jewelry and want the accessory equivalent, this is one of the clearest expressions of the house’s codes in years. If you simply want a practical evening bag, it is almost certainly overkill.
