Is Fenty’s New Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Foundation Worth $48?

Fenty rebuilt its complexion franchise around a lighter, flexible natural-matte formula and 50 new shades. The range is impressive; the missing shopper history is the biggest caveat.

Is Fenty’s New Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Foundation Worth $48?

Fenty Beauty’s original Pro Filt’r helped make broad shade ranges a baseline expectation. Its new $48 Pro Filt’r Fluid Flex Natural Matte Longwear Foundation is a substantive reset: Fenty positions it as a lighter, more flexible formula in 50 all-new shades designed around a wider set of undertones.

What changed

Fluid Flex has medium, buildable coverage and a natural-matte finish rather than a flat, powdery one. Fenty says its flexible-wear technology resists creasing, sweat, humidity and transfer while keeping a natural-matte finish for up to 12 hours. The standard bottle contains 30 ml, and the formula includes starfruit extract for oil and shine control.

The shade architecture is the headline. Fifty options run from 106N through 596N, mixing neutral, cool and warm designations. Because these are described as all-new shades, an old Pro Filt’r number should not be treated as a guaranteed one-to-one match. Use the brand’s shade finder or sample in person if possible.

The case for it

The specifications address common complaints about long-wear matte foundations: stiffness, settling and limited undertone nuance. A flexible film and buildable coverage should be easier to customize than a full-coverage formula that sets immediately. The $48 price is premium but in line with major prestige foundations.

Fenty now shows 4.7 out of 5 from more than 2,300 reviews on the product page. That is far more useful than launch-day anecdote, although the page also uses the rating within a broader product-comparison module and does not clearly separate every migrated or incentivized submission. Treat the score as a strong satisfaction signal, not controlled evidence.

Fenty reports that 94% agreed the formula did not settle into fine lines in a consumer study of 33 people. The result supports the positioning, but 33 is a small brand-funded sample. Independent wear will still vary with prep, climate and skin texture.

The practical limitations

Natural matte is not the safest blind buy for anyone who prefers visibly dewy skin. Very dry areas will need moisturizer and thin application. “Waterproof” and “12-hour” are performance claims, not permission to skip testing the formula through a normal day.

Shade matching is another risk because the numbers are new. The selected 216N is described for light-medium skin with neutral undertones, but online photography cannot replace trying the shade in daylight.

Our verdict

Worth trying for: combination or oily skin, natural-matte shoppers and anyone underserved by typical undertone ranges.

Sample first if: you have dry or textured skin, are moving from the original Pro Filt’r, or are unsure where you fall in the rebuilt shade system.

Fluid Flex earns attention because the update is substantive: a new flexible-wear formula, a smoother natural-matte target and a full 50-shade reset. The review volume improves confidence, but the smartest purchase is still the correctly matched shade—not the number you wore in the previous formula.
