The Proenza Schouler PS1 is coming back, but the brand is not simply reproducing its 2008 hit. The new version, called the PS1 Walker, was revealed during New York Fashion Week under creative director Rachel Scott, with accessories designer Reed Krakoff involved in the update.
The original PS1 became a counterpoint to the louder logo bags of its era: utilitarian hardware, messenger-bag references and relatively discreet branding. The Walker keeps that DNA but simplifies the facade and softens the leather and curves, making the revival feel less like an archive copy and more like a new everyday bag built from a familiar template.
Vogue reports three sizes priced from $1,650 to $2,590, with black, chrome yellow and suede among the planned finishes. The bags are made in Italy and are expected to become available in January 2027.
The PS1 has enough recognition to benefit from the current appetite for late-2000s accessories, but the commercial question is whether a refreshed shape can become relevant to shoppers who never owned the original. Proenza Schouler says leather goods already represent roughly a third of its sales, so this is more than a runway nostalgia moment.
Do not treat this as a resale-hunt story yet. The useful move is to decide whether you want the original PS1’s stricter messenger shape or the new Walker’s softer proportions. If the Walker lands well, it could become one of the more consequential luxury-bag revivals of 2027.
