The important detail is the material. According to the house, the pink was developed using a process inspired by the historic “gold-ruby” technique, in which fine gold particles help generate the color rather than conventional pigment alone. Van Cleef says its workshops spent several years refining the particle size, shape and concentration needed to achieve the final shade.
